Residency Of Mount Vernon Public Works Commissioner Under Scrutiny

City Council President says that commissioner cannot serve because he lives outside of the city, The Journal News reports.

MOUNT VERNON, NY - The eligibility of of newly minted Mount Vernon Public Works Commissioner Joseph Nigro has come under scrutiny due to his residency, according to a report in The Journal News.

City Council President Roberta Apuzzo questioned whether Nigro is eligible because that he does not appear to live in Mount Vernon, The Journal News reported.

An assistant for Mayor Richard Thomas to The Journal News that Nigro lives in New Rochelle and that the residency requirement covers lower Westchester County more broadly.
