4 Wounded In Drive-By Shooting: Yonkers Police
Yonkers police responded to the scene of gunfire with multiple victims wounded on Thursday. Police believe the shooting was gang related.

YONKERS, NY — Yonkers police say they were called to the scene of a shooting near Elm Street and Oak Street at just after 4 p.m. Thursday.
Four victims were wounded in the shooting with one of the victims sustaining life-threatening injuries, officials said. Police Commissioner John Mueller said that the victims are all expected to survive what he referred to as "another heinous act of gun violence."
The commissioner said that investigators believe the drive-by shooting was gang-related and not a random act of violence. He said that police have "several persons of interest in custody" and have recovered the gun believed to have been used in the shooting.

"The Yonkers police will do everything in our power to deliver these violent actors into the criminal justice system," Mueller said in a statement. "But that is no longer enough — the system must hold them accountable. The safety of our communities and residents depends on it."
The shooting took place less than a block away from where a 6-year-old playing on his front porch was struck in the shoulder by a stray bullet. Police arrested three teenagers in connection with this April 30 shooting. Investigators do not believe that the child was the intended target, but that the shooters were targeting each other.

"We've gone so far that it's the law-abiding citizens who live in the street, 99% of them, who frankly can't leave their home because there's a body count on Elm Street of those who've been shot and that's unacceptable," Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano told ABC News Thursday evening.
