Stewart-Cousins Honors Westchester Veteran
Sgt. Ruby Carlisle-Thomas received a plaque Tuesday to recognize her induction into the New York State Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame.

Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins presented veteran Sgt. Ruby Carlisle-Thomas with a plaque Tuesday to recognize her induction into the New York State Senate Veterans’ Hall of Fame.
Sgt. Carlisle-Thomas was nominated for the esteemed honor by the Majority Leader for her service in the U.S. Army and her work here at home, running a veteran’s ministry at her church, along with starting a prison ministry for incarcerated young men.
The award recognizes veterans who demonstrate service to their community or accomplishments as a civilian. This year, the Veterans’ Hall of Fame ceremony was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so veterans were not able to receive their award formally at the Capitol in Albany by their nominating Senator and among their peers.
