Yonkers Partners in Education Launches Regeneron STEM Institute
The program will be for Yonkers HS students who have a serious commitment to the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

From YPIE: Yonkers Partners in Education (YPIE) has partnered with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. to launch the Regeneron STEM Institute, an exciting and rigorous program for Yonkers high school students who have shown a serious commitment to the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The three-year program officially began on Tuesday evening with a kickoff event for the seventeen accepted YPIE STEM Scholars and their families.
“The ‘Eureka!’ moment associated with science research is the main reason why I took an interest in science in the first place,” said Emily Daly, newly accepted YPIE STEM Scholar. “What interests me the most about science research is all of the possibilities. There are no limits on what can be researched and what can be discovered through research, and I hope that one day I can help to find discoveries that stretch to the limit.”
Yonkers Partners in Education is proud to join in the nationwide effort to promote STEM education and invest in young people as a way to advance our nation in a competitive global environment. “In a school district with more than 28,000 students and very limited resources, it is incredible to see these talented and deserving students receive the support they need to explore their passion for the sciences,” said Wendy Nadel, YPIE’s Executive Director. “I am excited to see what the future holds for our students when given the opportunity to reach their full potential.”

The Regeneron STEM Institute is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in science research and to inspire them to pursue a career in a STEM field after graduating from high school. The YPIE STEM Scholars will have the opportunity to conduct their own research on a topic of their choosing alongside mentors working in STEM fields at Regeneron’s labs in Tarrytown and throughout Westchester County.
“We are thrilled to partner with YPIE to launch the Regeneron STEM Institute, which will help support and enrich young innovators in our community,” said Hala Mirza, Vice President, Corporate Communications and Citizenship at Regeneron. “Regeneron believes in the power of science to help solve our world’s most pressing problems, and we are eager to see what these promising young scientists learn and discover as a result of this new initiative.”
