2 Indicted Over Shooting At Transportation Center

The alleged shooter is 17.

SPRING VALLEY, NY — A Rockland County grand jury indicted two county residents in connection with the shooting Feb. 27 at Municipal Plaza in Spring Valley. The alleged shooter, 17, will be prosecuted as an adolescent offender.

Victor Sanchez, 17, of Haverstraw was indicted for Attempted Murder 2nd (felony) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd (felony). His case will be prosecuted in the Rockland County Youth Part of Superior Court.

Tarique Wilson, 23, of Spring Valley was indicted for Hindering Prosecution 2nd (felony).

Police said Sanchez shot someone at the Transportation Center at Municipal Plaza in Spring Valley, and fled the scene with Wilson. The shooting took place just before 2 p.m. Feb. 27. After receiving 911 calls about gunshots, police found a 30-year-old at 1 Municipal Plaza with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

"I’m pleased to see the hard work of law enforcement is making its way through the judicial system with the end result being justice realized for the offenders and a safer Rockland County," District Attorney Tom Walsh said in announcing the indictments.
