"Bernstein at 100"

Hudson Valley Chorale celebrates the 100th Anniversary of Leonard Bernstein's birth

Now in its 11th season, the Hudson Valley Chorale, under the baton of its musical director, Michael Haigler, celebrates the 100th Anniversary of Leonard Bernstein's birth with an "all-Bernstein" program for its Winter Concert. Bernstein, known for his modern and urban composing style, created some of the most iconic music of the 20th century. The chorale's focus in the first half of the program will be Bernstein's more classical Chichester Psalms, a piece commissioned for the 1965 Southern Cathedrals Festival at Chichester Cathedral, England.

The mood in the second half of the program lightens with featured selections from several musicals that were scored by Bernstein, namely Candide, Peter Pan, West Side Story and On the Town.

This program emphasizes the wide variability and range of both the chosen composer and the performing choral group. The HVC members will be joined by guest vocalists and musical accompaniment.
