Church of Saint Joseph 125th Anniversary Gala
The Parish will be celebrating their 125th Anniversary with a gala on June 2nd 2019 .

ROCKLAND, New York - Saint Joseph Parish turns 125 years old this year, and the church is planning a June 2nd celebration.
The Church of Saint Joseph 125th Anniversary Gala will be held June 2nd from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 26 Paris Avenue, Rockleigh, NJ 07647. The event will include an award ceremony and entertainment.

The parish was built in 1894 by generations of immigrants from Ireland, Italy and other European nations. The theme of tending to immigrants has not changed since.

Located in Spring Valley, New York, a village of 50,000 people with poor housing stock, crime and many low-income families, the church tends to this population spiritual needs. The church deals with many issues parishioners face, including immigration, education, employment and housing.

St. Joseph's Church: Some history
- In 1867, families began worshiping in homes in the village and broke ground on a church building on West Street in 1868.
- in 1894, land was purchased on Main Street and the church as dedicated in 1895.
- The church — once at 100 N. Main St. until 1970 — has moved over the generations, settling at its current location at 245 N. Main St. and Sneden Place West, where the first Mass was celebrated Sept. 30, 1995. Cardinal John O'Connor, archbishop of New York, dedicated the altar and church on Nov. 4, 1995.
- Until 1995, the church celebrated Mass in its school, built in 1967.
