Clarkstown Cops Make Fast Arrest In Friday Afternoon Bank Robbery

The robbery was reported at the Capital One bank branch on Route 59.

NANUET, NY — Clarkstown police were called at 5:30 p.m. Friday about a bank robbery at the Capital One Bank at 46 E. Rt. 59 in Nanuet. The initial reports stated that an adult male entered the bank and passed a note to the teller demanding money.

No weapons were displayed, police were told.

The responding patrol units and detectives were able to quickly identify a suspect and determine how he left the scene.

They were able to locate him within one hour of the robbery being reported. He was placed under arrest in the area of Dutch Lane in Spring Valley.

The suspect was identified as Jamie Bass, 46. He was transported to Clarkstown Police Headquarters for processing. Bass, who has no fixed address, has been charged with Robbery 3rd (felony) and Grand Larceny (felony). He will be arraigned in Rockland County Court at a future time.
