Driver Airlifted To Hospital After AM Thruway Crash
Police said he hit the rear of a parked tractor-trailer.
SLOATSBURG, NY — A Toyota driver was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries after a crash on I-87 in Rockland County Monday morning.
New York State police said they were called to the New York Thruway in Sloatsburg at 7:30 a.m. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2007 Toyota Avalon traveling southbound, exited the roadway on the right shoulder and struck the rear of a tractor trailer which was parked on the shoulder.
The driver of the Toyota was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a nearby community field where he was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center with life threatening injuries and listed in critical condition. The occupant of the tractor trailer was not injured, state police said.
