Moviegoers
and Matt Damon fans will have a chance to see Sony Pictures new release Elysium, early at the IMAX
Palisades Theatre when it opens on August 8th at 7pm. The film is
not yet rated and run 110 minutes.
In
the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a
pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an
overpopulated, ruined planet. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the
crime and poverty that is now rampant throughout the land. The only man with
the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary
guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance,
he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against
Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if
he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on
Earth as well.
The IMAX Theatre at Palisades Center boasts one of the largest screens and
one of the few remaining 1570 projection systems in the country which allows
incredibly sharp detail and the capacity to display images of far greater size
and resolution than conventional film systems bringing movies to life in a way
that is simply not possible in many movie theatres including spectacular 3D
images. This means Rockland, Orange, Bergen and Westchester residents have an
opportunity to see films shot with IMAX cameras the way the director intended –
full screen with full six story high action.
