Friends Start GoFundMe Page After Charlie Sharon's Death

Active in the firefighting community, the Nanuet resident died suddenly at age 59. His funeral is Thursday.

NANUET, NY — Charlie Conrad Sharon died suddenly Jan. 9 at the age of 59. The service is at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hellman Memorial Chapels, 15 State St., Spring Valley.

Active in the Rockland County, regional and state firefighting communities, Sharon was a life member of the Orangeburg Fire Association, and a former member of the Nanuet Fire Department and Hugh Gassner Fire Co. South Spring Valley. He also worked at Rockland Paramedics and formerly at the Rockland County Sheriff's Communications Center (44-Control) as an emergency dispatcher. He served as a sergeant in the Orangetown Police Auxilliary and was a member of the South Orangetown Ambulance Corps.

His friends have formed a GoFundMe page to help the family defray the costs of the funeral.

"Besides his wife and the emergency services, Charlie's other love was collecting. Unfortunately, the family does not have sufficient funds to cover the costs of the funeral so any help you can give would be greatly appreciated," they wrote on GoFundMe.
