HANA Nurses' Week Celebration Panelists Announced
Akia Blandon, MSN, RN, Keynote Speaker

Suffern, N.Y. (May 2, 2016) – Mark your calendars to join Haitian American Nurses Association (HANA)of Rockland County, Inc. on Saturday, May 7th, 2016 for their Nurses’ Week Celebration. The event, from 4PM – 7PM at Rockland Community College Technology Center in Suffern, will provide a unique way to educate, empower, and mobilize nurses and members of the community around the issues of employment discrimination. Admission is free.
HANA of Rockland County, Inc. proudly announces the event’s Panelists: Mireille Leroy, BSN, RN, President of HANA of Rockland County; Victor Beauvil, PHD, Professor at RCC, and State University of New York; Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester), 38th District in the New York State Senate; Marie Edeline Hyppolite, MSN, RN, President of HANA of Greater New York, and the Associate Director for Strategic Management for Patient Care Services at Queens Hospital Center; Diane Lucas, Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Bureau; John C. Luke, Jr., Employment Law Attorney at Derek Smith Law Group, PLLC; Margalie Rodriguez, Attorney Supervisor with the Nassau County Commission on Human Rights.
Akia Blandon, MSN, RN will be the event’s special keynote speaker. Akia Blandon is the current Vice President, Clinical Integration/Quality at ArchCare in New York City. She has held various positions throughout her 10-year tenure. Ms. Blandon is also an adjunct professor at Helene Fuld College of Nursing NY, NY. She is a member of the BSN program Advisory Board and is the Alumni Board President at HFCN. Akia is passionate about community service and is a proud member of Chi Eta Phi Sorority Incorporated and STTI. She also serves as an advisory board member for Worldwide Community First Responder, Inc. She is a Masters prepared Nurse and is currently pursuing a Post Masters Certificate, Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner at Saint Peter’s University, Jersey City, NJ. She is the proud mother of five amazing young people to whom she attributes her drive and ambition. Her motto “With human beings it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Jacqueline Cassagnol, MSN, RN, PMC, HANA of Rockland County, Inc. Education Committee Chair will emcee the Nurses' Week Celebration. Entertainment will be by Frantz Condé, MsED, Visionary Artîste & Creative StoryTeller Par Excellence, Founder and CEO of Condé & Associates and The CondeGlobal Movement. There will be a reception after the program.
