House Destroyed By Fire In Nanuet

Firefighters from several neighboring departments helped the Nanuet Fire Department.

NANUET, NY — An overnight fire destroyed a house at 28 Van Nostrand Place in Nanuet Sunday.

The Nanuet Fire Department was alerted at 2:40 a.m.

Ramon Romero and Melissa Espaillat told News12 the fire was already heavy when they woke up at 2:30 a.m. They grabbed their 4- and 7-year-old sons and escaped out the back door.

The fire was put out and all units returned to quarters around 5 a.m. The Clarkstown Fire Inspector remained at the scene to investigate, fire officials said.

The fire department was assisted by volunteers from Pearl River, West Nyack, Spring Valley, New City and South Spring Valley.
