Lawmaker, Keep Rockland Beautiful Rid Nanuet Road of Litter

It's Rockland Legislator Aney Paul's 4th roadway cleanup this year, and one of KRB's many volunteer efforts.

NANUET, NY —

For the fourth time this year, Rockland County Legislator Aney Paul and a volunteer crew helped rid local roads of litter.

The cleanup was the latest in an ongoing effort to help keep Rockland looking great while also keeping trash from entering our waterways, Paul said.

She again partnered with Keep Rockland Beautiful for the effort.

“Keeping our community clean not only makes Rockland a nicer place to live, it also helps protect our waterways and the wildlife that relies on them,” Paul said. “I really want to thank all the volunteers for their help.”

In 2014, as part of the Rockland County Highway Department’s Adopt-a-Road Program, Paul adopted the two-mile stretch of County Route 35A that runs between New Clarkstown Road in Nanuet and Route 59 in Spring Valley.

Paul organized four cleanup efforts in 2014, four more in 2015 and another four this year, including the one held Oct. 15.

Debris left on roadsides is often washed by rain and melted snow into local waterways through storm drains or blown directly into streams and lakes. These waterways help supply drinking water and also serve as habitat for aquatic, plant and wild life.
