Kristallnacht, also called "Night of Broken Glass", fell on the night of November 9–10, 1938 and was a "pogrom" (or violent raid) carried out against the Jews by Nazi Germany military forces. Jewish homes, hospitals and schools were ransacked and demolished; 267 Jewish Synagogues were destroyed; over 7000 Jewish owned businesses were damaged or destroyed; and over 30,000 Jewish men were arrested and incarcerated in concentration camps. Kristallnacht proved to be a precursor to the murdering of six million Jews during the Holocaust.
