Nanuet Resident To Receive Award From School Of Medicine

NANUET, NY — A resident of Seton Village is to be honored by Creighton University. Sister Katherine Seibert, S.C., M.D., was selected to receive the Creighton University Alumni Merit Award for the School of Medicine.

Sister Seibert, a 66-year member of the Sisters of Charity of New York, earned her medical degree at Creighton University in 1976. She continued her training at the National Cancer Institute and St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis.

Sister Seibert was recommended for the award by the Creighton University Committee on Public Honors and Events. The Alumni Merit Award, which recognizes outstanding alumni from each school and college, honors women and men who live life with high moral standards, guided by the Jesuit ideal of “women and men for and with others.” The University honors “passionate leaders who touch and enrich lives, encouraging and inspiring others while they serve selflessly and leave the world a better place.”

Sister Seibert will attend the Evening of Honors in Omaha on Feb. 7, part of Creighton University’s Founders Week.

Seton Village in Nanuet was developed and is run by the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul of New York which currently operates over 625 housing units, most for seniors, throughout the New York area.
