COVID-19 pandemic restrictions forced the cancellation of the annual Angel Tree O&R employees’ toy drive and O&R’s annual Red Kettle Bell Ringing fundraiser at the Palisades Center.

O&R Strategic Partnerships Manager Linda Feger said, “COVID can cancel a lot of things in our lives but COVID can’t cancel our commitment to help the less fortunate in our community. These annual programs aim to provide at least some brief relief for our needy neighbors from their daily struggles. Our replacement donations keep our word to maintain that help.”

The local Salvation Army offices work closely with O&R throughout the year by administering The Neighbor Fund. That’s O&R’s program to provide critical home-heating assistance for those O&R customers who find themselves unable to pay their home-heating fuel bills because of emergency financial conditions.

Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. (O&R) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc., one of the nation’s largest investor-owned energy companies. O&R is a regulated utility that provides electric service to approximately 300,000 customers in southeastern New York State (where its franchise name is Orange & Rockland) and northern New Jersey (where it’s Rockland Electric Company), and natural gas service to approximately 130,000 customers in New York.
