Rockland residents recently partook in a treasure hunt adventure at Harriman State Park during a geocaching fundraising event for the Rockland Alliance for Health (RAH).
The modern day treasure hunt served as a good way to get people to be active and bring families together.
While families like Bill Cahill and his two grandchildren—a sixth generation Haverstraw family who engage in intergenerational hiking and volunteer work—enjoyed the event, newbies like the Rivera’s from Montebello also had a great time.

Though they’ve never participating in an event like this before, the Riveras won the Geocaching raffle prize that will help them with their future Geocaching adventures.
Locals and members of RAH used hand-held global positioning satellite devices and plugged in coordinates during the event to find “caches,” or hidden containers filled with “treasures,” during the event, which aimed to promote activities that encourage a healthy lifestyle.
