St. Joseph Church 125th Anniversary Celebration Continues

During the 17-21 July period, the parish will host an International Festival on the Parish Grounds in Spring Valley, NY.

Spring Valley, N.Y. (July 13, 2019) –The 125th Anniversary Celebration of St Joseph Church in Spring Valley continues through July and August with two great events. During the 17-21 July period, the parish will host an International Festival on the Parish Grounds. It will include Prayer Services, Live Music, Rides, Games, Food and Fellowship. The church is located at 245 N Main Street in Spring Valley. Everyone is invited.

Also during August, a little bit of Hollywood will come to Spring Valley, as the Parish hosts a production of DANCING WITH THE ST JOSEPH STARS. In cooperation with the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Bardonia, "contestants" from the parish will compete for the mirror ball prize. The event will take place on Sunday, August 25, with doors opening at 4:45 PM in the parish gym. Tickets are on sale at the parish rectory of can be purchased at the door. The $30 admission includes the show, over an hour of open dancing, a demonstration by the professional dancers, and refreshments and food. A silent auction will also be held. Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, located in Spring Valley, Rockland County of the Archdiocese of New York has been a parish home to generations of Roman Catholics. The parish was incorporated in 1894. The mission of tending to immigrants has not changed since and the diverse ministries of the Church respond to the needs of the surrounding communities. Our parish is enlivened by our faith in Jesus Christ supported on the shoulders of those who have gone before.

· in 1894, land was purchased on Main Street and the church dedicated in 1895.
· The church — once at 100 N. Main St. until 1970 — has moved over the generations, settling at its current location at 245 N. Main St. and Sneden Place West, where the first Mass was celebrated Sept. 30, 1995.
· Cardinal John O'Connor, then archbishop of New York, dedicated the altar and church on Nov. 4, 1995.
· Until 1995, the church celebrated Mass in its school, built in 1967.
· Today, the parish community is among the most diverse in the Archdiocese of New York, with regular religious services in English, Spanish and French Creole.
