This NYC Neighborhood Is One Of The Nation's Richest, Report Says

NEW YORK — As the home of one of the world's great financial centers and the nation's most expensive condo, New York City is a veritable hotbed of wealth. But one of the country's richest neighborhood is neither the heart of Wall Street nor the borders of Central Park, according to a new Bloomberg ranking.

Part of Tribeca landed at No. 5 on the publication's annual ranking of the richest ZIP codes in the United States, published Monday. The average annual income in the nabe's 10007 ZIP code was $879,000, according to the most recent available tax returns from 2016, according to Bloomberg.

The 10007 ZIP code covers a southern swath of Tribeca, which has seen luxe new developments such as 30 Park Place, Bloomberg reported. A penthouse in that building reportedly sold for $32.6 million last year.

"You don’t know who is behind which door in Tribeca," Darren Sukenik, the real estate firm Douglas Elliman's director of luxury sales, told Bloomberg. "It’s not like Park Avenue or Madison Avenue. There’s not a Ferrari sitting outside."

Tribeca was far from alone on Bloomberg's list, as Manhattan was home to several more of the 100 richest ZIP codes in the nation. The Financial District's 10005 ranked 34th with an average annual income of $529,500, while Battery Park City's 10282 placed 36th with $522,400. The 10013 ZIP code, which covers parts of Tribeca and SoHo, ranked 72nd.

Fisher Island in Miami again took the top spot on Bloomberg's list with an average income of more than $2.2 million. Also beating out Tribeca in the ranking were Atherton, California; Palo Alto, California; and Palm Beach, Florida.
