The first phase for redeveloping Hudson Yards in New York City officially kicks off this week with the opening of a climbable sculpture called "Vessel."

Comprised of interlocking staircases and platforms, Vessel includes 2,500 steps and clocks in at an impressive 150 feet tall. The wine glass-shaped metal structure, which was created by British designer Thomas Heatherwick, is slated to be only just the beginning of the $25 billion Hudson Yards development project.

When all is said and done, the redevelopment will boast "a hotel, a school, a retail mall, restaurants, public plazas and a skyscraper taller than the Empire State Building," reports AP.
