18 COVID-19 Deaths Since March 31: Rockland Coronavirus Update

More than a third of the county's residents have received at least one dose of vaccine.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — As Rockland races to vaccinate its residents, the death toll from COVID-19 continues to rise.

Eighteen people have died since March 31, bringing the total number of Rockland residents who have died from the coronavirus to 941. There are 43 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Rockland, according to the county's dashboard.

Meanwhile, the number of residents who have received at least 1 dose of vaccine jumped to 118,657 as of Thursday morning.

But despite the opening of a state mass vaccination site in Rockland, the county is lagging behind most of the Hudson region. Here's how Rockland's vaccination rate compares:

  • Rockland: 36.4 percent of the total population
  • Dutchess: 42.3
  • Orange: 32.8
  • Putnam: 43.6
  • Sullivan: 33.5
  • Ulster: 46.9
  • Westchester: 45.2
