Beth Am Temple Kicks Off 50th Anniversary with Concert: "From Bimah to Broadway!"

Beth Am Temple, established in 1963, is celebrating its 50th Anniversary. On Saturday October 27th the Temple will kick off its year-long celebration with a concert titled, “Bimah to Broadway” featuring Cantor Marcy Kadin of Beth Am Temple, Cantor Sally Neff of Temple Beth Torah and Beth Am Temple’s Cantor Emerita, Geri Zeller. There will also be special surprise musical guests.

The concert will take place at Beth Am Temple located at 60 East Madison Avenue in Pearl River, New York on October 27th at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $18.00 each and a champagne reception will follow the performance. Member and non members are welcome. Tickets can be purchased by calling 845-735-5858.

In Beth Am Temple's 50 year history Marcy Kadin is the first to be 'invested' which is similar to ordination for a Rabbi. Investiture involves a five year graduate course of study at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, the seminary for the Reform Movement, located in New York City. All candidates must first spend a year living and studying in Jerusalem and then four more years of intense study in New York City.  As an invested Cantor, Kadin is able to officiate at all ceremonies for Jewish life cycle events including weddings, baby namings, and funerals.
