Changeable Weather Puts Damper On HV's Memorial Day Weekend

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — On Wednesday, the National Weather Service predicted the long holiday weekend would be mostly sunny in the region, except for a few showers expected early Saturday morning. But that was yesterday, and yesterday's gone.

Now forecasters are predicting rain, though they don't agree when.

Hudson Valley Weather predicts showers on Friday with rain overnight, a cloudy Saturday, showers on Sunday afternoon and a mostly cloudy Memorial Day. The National Weather Service agrees about Friday and Monday, but forecasts showers on Saturday, not on Sunday. AccuWeather predicts rain on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, the Weather Channel says it'll rain in the Hudson Valley every single day.

There is good news on which forecasters agree: temperatures will drop back to seasonable levels for the next four days.

Here's the National Weather Service's forecast based on Mount Kisco:

• Thursday night - Mostly clear, with a low around 51. North wind around 7 mph.
• Friday - A 50 percent chance of rain, mainly after 2pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 67. East wind 7 to 9 mph.
• Friday Night - Rain. Low around 46. Northeast wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
• Saturday - A chance of rain before 8am, then a chance of showers after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. Northeast wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
• Saturday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46.
• Sunday - Partly sunny, with a high near 63.
• Sunday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47.
• Memorial Day - Partly sunny, with a high near 67.
• Monday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 50.
• Tuesday - Partly sunny, with a high near 73.
