Tuesday Hearing On Zoning Change Will Take Place, But
The board has a hearing about the Rockland Country Day School property on its agenda, but has changed its approach.

NEW CITY, NY — Clarkstown officials will hear comments from the public during a scheduled hearing about a zoning change for the Rockland Country Day School property.

A Facebook post from town officials earlier Tuesday said the hearing would only be opened and closed. However, officials later said the town board would hold the hearing to accept public comments.
The Town Board is still working through some issues about a zoning change for the property.

"A number of issues are being evaluated and once completed a future hearing date will be re-noticed and announced," Town Supervisor George Hoehmann announced on Facebook.
The published April 20 agenda includes Public Hearing #1: "Local Law Amending Zoning Map of the Town of Clarkstown."
Town officials did not say why they announced a plan to open and close the Tuesday hearing instead of the usual process of opening a hearing and holding it open.
An affordable senior housing development is under consideration, which would require a zoning change, the Rockland Business Journal reported.
Clarkstown bought the 22-acre campus on Kings Highway at the beginning of 2018. The school closed in the summer of 2019.
