County Clerk’s Office Receives eRecording Award

The Rockland County Clerk’s office received “Rookie of the Year Award” for its implementation of eRecording (electronic document recording) technology on Tuesday. The county clerk’s office in Rockland was the first in the state to implement eRecording. 

County Clerk Paul Piperato helped spearhead state legislation in 2012 that permitted eRecording. The clerk’s office reduced its turnaround time from weeks for paper documents to minutes for eRecorded documents.

“It used to take between six to eight weeks for submitters to receive their documents,” Piperato said. “Now submitters can access their records within the hour. We’re very excited to see how the eRecording system can continue to benefit the county.”

The presentation from Corporation Service Company (CSC) recognized government offices for major advancements in eRecording and the work of clerks and recorders in the United States who have implemented and promoted the use of eRecording technology. The county clerk’s office was acknowledged for the technology advancements it made in a short period of time.

Piperato has served as the county clerk since 2006 and as a former president of the New York State Association of County Clerks.

“The Rockland County Clerk’s office was dedicated to making eRecording a reality in the state of New York and demonstrated a clear commitment to better serving its customers,” said Mark Rosser, CSC vice president.
