Former Clarkstown Pharmacist Pleads Guilty to Fraud

New City resident was charged with insurance and tax fraud.

The former owner of the Clarkstown Pharmacy and other pharmacies in New York City has pleaded guilty to charges including defrauding Medicare and Medicaid of $2.7 million and tax fraud. Andrew Barrett of New City billed for prescription medications that were never given to patients, according to the Rockland County Times.

Barrett also admitted to taking money for personal use from his pharmacies by claiming they were business expenses on his taxes. He faces a possible prison term and fines in the range of $125,000.

Thirty criminal charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement, according to the Rockland County Times.
