Fun Gardening Workshops at Down to Earth Living

Down to Earth Living in Pomona is hosting a series of Free Summer Gardening Workshops During April and May.

Down to Earth Living Home and Garden Center will host a series of Summer Gardening Workshops during the months of April and May. The workshops will be held at Down to Earth Living located at 1040 Route 45, Pomona, NY and are offered free of charge.

Spring Gala with Bonsai Artist Mauro Stemberger - Saturday, April 13th 2019, 9am – 4pm

The 2nd Annual Spring Gala, held at the Bonsai Shack, will feature a demonstration by Internationally known Bonsai artist Mauro Stemberger. Mauro is considered one of the most interesting, entertaining and dynamic Bonsai Masters of our time. During the demonstration, Mauro will show attendees how to style, prune and wire Bonsai. All the supplies used during the demonstration, including tools, wire, pots, soil and plants, will be available for purchase throughout the day.

Bonsai for Beginners - Saturday, April 20th 2019, 11am – 12:30pm

Down to Earth will host a Bonsai for Beginners workshop at the Bonsai Shack. The workshop is aimed at giving beginners an insight into this fascinating art. There will be a storewide sale on all Bonsai trees and related items throughout the day. Stop by and give Bonsai a try!

Bring Your Own Bonsai Tree Workshop - Saturday, April 27th 2019, 11am – 12:30pm

The Bonsai shack will be hosting Sergio Cuan. Sergio will be there to show attendees how to take their trees to the next level. Space is extremely limited for this workshop. Those wishing to attend should contact John at (845) 304-2183 to reserve a spot. Cost for the workshop is $75 per person. Those who wish to attend and listen but not bring their trees may do so at no charge.

Vegetable Gardening 101 - Sunday, April 28th 2019, 2pm – 3pm

This workshop is for anyone who wants to get started growing fresh vegetables in their backyard or in containers. Growing your own vegetables is a great way to bring fresh, nutritious produce from garden to table in your own home. Knowing where your vegetables come from is one of the many benefits of home gardening. You will also save money by buying less produce from the supermarket and it is a fun way to get the whole family outside to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. You will be able to purchase seeds and other supplies needed to start your vegetable garden after the workshop. All ages welcome.

Container Gardening for Beautifying your Outdoor Space - Sunday, May 5th 2019, 2pm – 3pm

This fun workshop will introduce participants to the creative world of container gardening; perfect for those who have only a small space for gardening as well as those who want to add colorful spot gardens to a larger space to add depth and interest. Wine and cheese will be served while the instructor explains the various aspects of container gardens and then attendees will have an opportunity to design and build their own to take home. Soda will also be available.

Registration is not necessary for the workshops; simply show up fifteen minutes early on the day of the event. Down to Earth Living, located on 12.5 acres in Pomona, attracts customers from Rockland, Bergen, Orange, Westchester and even Fairfield County Connecticut with its gracious outdoor living furnishings and beautiful home decor.
