Hazardous Outlooks Issued For Hudson Valley

Flooding and flash floods are the main threats, the National Weather Service said.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — There is an isolated flash flood threat through this evening, the National Weather Service warned in a hazardous weather outlook issued Thursday afternoon for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.

In a separate hazardous weather outlook issued for Dutchess and Ulster counties, the NWS said

Showers and thunderstorms will become more widespread this afternoon and evening. Locally heavy rainfall is possible, which could result in minor flooding of urban and poor drainage areas. Isolated flash flooding cannot be ruled out.

The heavy rain threat will taper off from northwest to southeast late tonight behind a cold front coming in. Thunderstorms are possible until about 11 p.m. Rain will continue overnight into the morning.
