Hudson Valley Temperatures Rise, Air Quality Falls
When might we get some relief? Here are details.
We have two more days of this before we catch a break. According to the National Weather Service, which updated its heat advisories Tuesday morning, temperatures will soar to 90 and high humidity could push heat indices even above 100 degrees.
"The dog days of summer are here," said the folks at Hudson Valley Weather. "The pattern for the coming week looks very much like the pattern we’ve seen over the last month."
What's more, it won't cool off much at night.

"Warm overnight lows in the middle 70s also make it difficult for the body to recover from the heat. Avoiding strenuous outdoor activities and ensuring you have or can find a safe, air conditioned environment, is important to staying healthy," NWS forecasters said.
Seniors and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions are at an increased risk.

Plus, New York has issued an air quality health advisory for the lower Hudson Valley.
Dutchess, Orange, Putnam and Ulster counties have gone to orange on the state's air quality index while Rockland and Westchester have gone to yellow. Elevated pollution levels could particularly affect the very young and those with respiratory or heart conditions.
The heat will begin to subside slightly Thursday, when high temps are predicted in the mid-80s. With a 50 percent chance of rain, there might be some cloud cover.
