HUDSON VALLEY, NY — With the storm now called Gail aiming to hit the Hudson Valley Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service has issued snow accumulation estimates along with a timeline for the region.
The winter storm warning will be in effect from 2 p.m. Wednesday until 1 p.m. Thursday. There's a chance of snow starting during the afternoon, but it will likely hold off until 5-6 p.m., the weather service said. Once it does start, it will pile up quickly. Snowfall rates of 2-4 inches an hour are possible and half-a-foot of snow will likely be on the ground in parts of the region by midnight.
Before the snow moves out of the region Thursday around noon, another 6-10 inches of snow are probable.
