ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — The first of three bridges New York Thruway Authority officials are replacing over I-87 in Ramapo should be finished by Thanksgiving.

The Hungry Hollow Road, Scotland Hill Road, and College Road overpasses are being upgraded to make them safer not only for motorists but also pedestrians. That also includes increased vertical clearance, to meet current standards and improve the flow of traffic.

The improvements should also stop trucks from crashing into them; as The Journal News reported, trucks have slammed into the Hungry Hollow overpass several times in the past decade.
