Legislator Wieder Asks Governor Cuomo To Sign Deficit Bond Bill

(By Betsy Saetre)

New City, NY – Rockland County Legislator Aron
Wieder is hopeful that New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo to sign the
“Rockland County Financing Act,” which was approved by the state
legislature early this morning. The legislation would provide Rockland
an opportunity to eliminate its deficit.
“This legislation is critical to the future of Rockland County
government, and I applaud the state legislature for supporting this
important proposal,” Legislator Wieder said. “I am optimistic that
Governor Andrew Cuomo will sign this bill as soon as possible so that
Rockland can restore its financial health.”

Legislator Wieder also praised Senators Bill Larkin and David Carlucci
for their efforts in securing passage of the legislation. “I commend
Senators Larkin and Carlucci on their extraordinary efforts in support
of the deficit bond for Rockland, and working to ensure its success in
the state senate,” said Wieder. “They have demonstrated their
commitment to Rockland taxpayers and I look forward to continue working
with them on other issues facing Rockland.”

“I also want to thank Assemblymembers Ellen Jaffee, Ken Zebrowski,
and Annie Rabbitt for sponsoring this bill in the Assembly and working
to get it passed in that chamber,” Wieder concluded.

Legislator Wieder serves on the Environmental, Government Operations,
and Economic Development Committees in the County Legislature, along
with serving on the Solid Waste Authority.
