Man Accused In Library Stabbing Had Been Jailed On Rape Charge
Blanchard Glaudin has been in and out of jail and hospital in the past three months, The Journal News reported.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — The 25-year-old Spring Valley man accused of stabbing a library guard to death after she told him to turn down the music he was listening to has been in and out of jail and a hospital since November, according to The Journal News.
Reporter Steve Lieberman found that Blanchard Glaudin had been arrested by Orangetown police under the name Glaudin Blanchard in November and charged with attempted rape. He was a patient at Montefiore Nyack Hospital Nov. 9 when he was accused of attacking a woman patient, biting her and attempting to rape her. He was sent to the Rockland County Jail Dec. 20 on $100,000 bail, but was released Dec. 26. He then missed three court appearances in January; on Jan. 17 the hospital sent a fax to the court saying he was hospitalized.
He apparently goes by several iterations of his name. TJN reported that under the name Blanchard Carter Glaudin he had been arrested in 2014 in Florida for trespassing.

Sandra Wilson, 52, of Spring Valley, died at Good Samaritan Hospital after the stabbing at the Finkelstein Memorial Library on Tuesday. After she was attacked, nearby library patrons jumped the man they said had a knife in his hand and held him down till police came.
"I want to commend the brave citizens, who reacted without fear for their safety, by subduing the suspect," Walsh said Wednesday. "We will ensure that justice is served in this horrible crime."
Closed since the attack, the library is scheduled to reopen Monday.
