Michelle Blake Lost 96 Pounds At Peak Physique
Michelle Blake talks about her weight loss journey.

Nanuet, N.Y. (May 13, 2019) – Michelle Blake is 32 years old. She grew up upstate in Sullivan County, New York. After high school, she moved to Florida for eight years and for the majority of that time lived in Miami and loved it. She currently lives in Rockland County. "I now work at Peak Physique for eight months and am the happiest I have ever been. During these months working at Peak, I have learned so much about fitness, nutrition, myself and life. However, I am just like many others that have been through a lot of different stresses in life, and have struggled with weight problems. One thing that I realized is so important in my journey is to put myself first and take that time to take care of myself. I have had these yo-yo effects with weight loss, trying different gyms, and things. At one point in Miami, I lost a lot of weigh, but fell off after moving back to New York. I was not motivated to do anything, and I got to my heaviest weight between 2015-2016. I was going through some things in a relationship, and may have gotten too comfortable taking care of someone else and putting their problems and life ahead of mine, which I probably have done my entire life not realizing it. I did not realize how heavy I really got, and how unhealthy I was and I hid it very well. I was up to 243 pounds. When I realized that number on the scale, how tired I was all of the time, and unhappy with how I looked, I decided to make changes. I started to ask people that I knew who trained for advice working out on my own and taking some stress out at the gym" said Michelle Blake.

When I got to my heaviest weight at 243 pounds and saw an advertisement for a promotion at Peak, I decided to try it. I loved the sessions and the coaches. Good intense workout was what I really needed. I completed the promotion, and got some great nutrition advice, but to be honest at that time I did not have the right mindset. I was not completely ready and did not commit. I ended up later on doing a second promotion with a coworker and we both did 5am classes. We motivated each other and we loved it. But again I did not continue, even though I always talked about it and bragged how great it was. I continued most of their eating plan, and I lost more weight on my own but it was a yo yo effect and many times I lost motivation. After getting a passion for fitness and loosing weight, I saw a Peak posting for an administrative assistant position, and thought this is a sign. This is the field that I want to be in. I want to work in the fitness world and continue on my journey.
2) How many pounds did you lose so far? How long did it take?
Find out what's happening in New Cityfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
So far I have lost a total of 96 pounds, and in the short time of working here since September I have lost 37 pounds.
3) How did Peak Physique help you meet your weight loss goal?
Peak Physique has changed my entire life, and I am accomplishing things that I never thought I would. The culture at Peak is amazing. The coaches are so motivating and helpful. Since being at Peak, they have helped me work on my personal development, and my entire mindset has changed. I have never been happier. Everyday here I learn something new about fitness and nutrition. Peak is not just a regular gym.
4) How often did you work out at Peak Physique?
I work out at Peak 5-6 times a week.
5) What is your favorite form of exercise to do and why?
I prefer strength exercises. I love to practice lifting weights and bettering my form.
6) Have you had to deal with any injuries along the way?
Yes. I have always had bad posture. I have scoliosis, and a bulging disk, but after losing a lot of weight my back feels better. Also being at Peak, they are always helping me with my form, and practicing to stand up straight. Peak has taught me stretches to help my back. It does get sore at times, but I push through and know when to take it slow. The things that I can do now compared to before are unbelievable to me.
7) What did you change in your diet?
My first initial change was drinking more water and getting rid of the soda and sugary drinks that I used to drink. I used to drink soda at 7 am thinking I needed it for caffeine. I now drink a gallon of water a day. I now follow Peak's educational eating plan, which is eating high protein every 2-3 hours that I am awake.
8) How did you manage to integrate this healthy lifestyle into your life?
I have just realized how bad I wanted it, and how I needed to be healthier. I started to be mindful of what I was putting in my mouth, making sure that I carry a gallon of water with me every day, preparing my food, and making time for myself.
9) What is the biggest struggle: food, exercise, temptation?
The biggest struggle is food because of my family and friends not being in the same mindset and lifestyle that I am. They eat a lot of sweets, and do not understand what my goals are, and will make comments like " you go the gym a lot, it is okay to cheat and have this" when it is a special occasion. They don't realize how I try hard to be disciplined and do not want to give into temptation.
10) What motivates you to continue with this lifestyle?
Having an obese aunt struggling with a lot of health problems and almost losing her recently has motivated me more.Knowing that I do not want to get back to that unhealthy lifestyle motivates me every day.
11) What are your goals for the future?
My goals for the future are to do a bikini contest (it has been a dream), complete more spartan races and push myself to do better in them.
12) What is your best piece of advice for those just starting their weight loss journey?
My best piece of advice for anyone starting their fitness journey is to have patience and to realize it is all in the mind. If your mindset is there and you put yourself first, it will all happen. If you plan out your day, schedule your work outs and prepare your foods for the day you will reach your goals.
