New City Music School: Since 2013, Samuel Faraci has operated the New City School of Music on North Main Street in New City (http://www.NewCityMusicSchool.com). What began with zero students has grown to over 600 students between two locations – the New City School of Music in Rockland County, and the Harrison School of Music in Westchester County. Students ages 4 and up take lessons on guitar, piano, voice, drums, ukulele, violin, saxophone, flute and clarinet.

On September 28th 2019, the New City School of Music will celebrate its five year anniversary by taking 30 students to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Director Samuel Faraci says about the event:

“We’re very excited to be making our Carnegie Hall debut this September. It’s something we’ve always wanted to do, and will be such a great opportunity for our students. So many of our students who started with us as absolute beginners have been working diligently expanding their musical skills that this is an excellent time for them to make their Carnegie Hall debut and help us celebrate our 5 year anniversary! Due to time constraints at Carnegie Hall, we had to hold auditions. We had over 90 of our students audition, and our judges narrowed it down to 30 finalists.”

There are a lot of music schools in Rockland and Westchester counties, but Faraci has worked hard to create a ‘whole’ experience for music students. “It’s a lot more than just a teacher and a room. The music lesson experience we give here includes great customer service to the parents, including communication on how their child is doing. For adults, they get first class treatment from the office staff to make sure everything is going smooth with their lessons. We are one of
the only schools in both counties that has full time office staff to assist our clients for just music lessons.”

The New City School of Music holds recitals every June and December and one of that things that is important to Faraci is that students get to perform in a first class recital hall with a grand Steinway or Yamaha piano. “We hold our recitals at local colleges, performing arts center and theatres and one of the criteria is that they have a grand piano and world class acoustics. Recitals are so important for the development of our young and adult students. If you’re going to host a recital, it needs to be in the best facility possible. Also all of our recitals are free and there are no participation fees.” Monitoring how students are doing and communicating that with parents is a big part of lessons at the New City School of Music. Faraci has licensed the Musical Ladder System® at both the New City School of Music and Harrison School of Music, and is the only licensee in both Rockland and Westchester counties.

“The Musical Ladder System® gives our students the opportunity to earn special color wristbands and bracelets, trophies and certificates for passing musical tests. Kids and teens absolutely love it. When students have a test coming up they are inspired practice more, which makes parents proud, teachers proud and everyone come out a winner!” The school is open to everyone ages 4 and up. With private lessons in voice, guitar, piano, drums, ukulele, saxophone, flute, clarinet and violin there’s something for everyone and it’s never too late to start. Lessons are held all year long.
