
Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said Maryann Cusie, 47, of New City has been charged with three felony counts of Grand Larceny after allegedly applying for and receiving almost $12,000 in unemployment benefits while she was working.
Zugibe said Cusie received $11,897 in unemployment insurance benefits between May 2010 and December 2012. According to the charges, Cusie is accused of falsely reporting she was unemployed when she was working for Majestic Lawn Care and Landscaping.Â
Cusie also allegedly applied for and was receiving credit card protection payments totaling $7,549.87 that she was not entitled to. According to the charges, Cusie falsified the records submitted to the credit card protection company and claimed she was unemployed. If convicted, Cusie faces up to seven years in prison. She was arraigned in Town of Clarkstown Justice Court and is scheduled to return to court on January 13, 2014.Â
