Obituary: Retired Chief Harry A. Stewart

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — One of the original members of the Rockland County Sheriff's Office has died.

Harry A. Stewart died Jan. 18, 2021.

Born May 14, 1943, Chief Stewart served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He joined the Rockland Sheriff's Office in 1966 and served in many roles including Chief of Division and Chief of Patrol. He retired in 2008.

Visitation is at 3 p.m. Jan. 24 at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service, 113 Lake Rd. E. in Congers. A service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Jan. 25 at the funeral home.
