UPDATE: Power Outages Mount in Rockland, Orange Counties
Thousands of customers are affected
UPDATE 11:45 a.m.: Thousands of customers are out of power in Rockland and Orange counties as high winds continue to whistle through the region, playing havoc with power lines.
One set of outages in Clarkstown has 2,511 customers out. O&R estimates power will be restored by 3 p.m.
North of Circleville, more than 900 customers are out of power, with a restoration time estimate of 4 p.m.

ORIGINAL REPORT: Scattered power outages across Orange & Rockland Utilities coverage area are affecting more than 200 customers Monday morning.
High winds followed at the tail end of the storm that brought snow, sleet and ice into the area on Sunday.

Poles are involved in the biggest single outage, in Clarkstown in an area crossing Germonds Road and Route 304.

The biggest power outage includes Laurel Plains Elementary School, which is closed today. The rest of the Clarkstown school district is on a regular schedule, officials said.
About 47 customers are affected in an area off Phillips Hill Road.
