Rain, Snow Kick Off Rockland Work Week

We'll start off the work week with a mix of rain and snow starting Monday afternoon in Rockland County. We'll end it with temperatures getting up into the low 50s. It's going to depend on where you are; the National Weather Service predicts that no matter how the moisture precipitates, there will be little or no snow accumulation.

Here's the five day forecast; you'll see temps swinging away from freezing:

  • Today-Cloudy with a 50 percent chance of light rain. Cold with highs in the upper 30s. North winds 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
  • Tonight-Rain likely in the evening, then rain with light snow likely after midnight. Little or no snow accumulation. Lows in the mid 30s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.
  • Tuesday-Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain in the morning, then mostly sunny in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 40s. West winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
  • Tuesday Night-Mostly cloudy. Lows in the mid 30s. Northwest winds around 5 mph.
  • Wednesday-Mostly cloudy in the morning, then becoming partly sunny. Highs in the mid 40s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the afternoon.
  • Wednesday Night-Partly cloudy in the evening, then clearing. Lows in the lower 30s.
  • Thursday-Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 40s.
  • Thursday Night-Mostly cloudy. Lows around 40.
  • Friday-Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers in the morning, then partly sunny in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 50s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
  • Friday Night-Mostly cloudy in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 30s.

Mixed precipitation expected. Patchy freezing drizzle is possible today. Tonight, areas of freezing rain after sunset will turn to sleet and snow after midnight. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch.
