Rockland Coronavirus: Death Toll Jumps To 923

The state will open a mass vaccination site at RCC Thursday morning.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — As a long-demanded state mass vaccination site is due to open Thursday morning in Rockland County, health officials are monitoring 1,644 active coronavirus cases.

The number of vaccinated residents continues to climb: According to the state's vaccine tracker, 29.4 percent of Rockland residents have received at least one dose.

COVID-19 continues to be a threat. The county's death toll jumped to 923 Tuesday — 10 people died of COVID-19 in the past week. Hospitalizations have trended up since mid-March. There are 56 confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 in local hospitals, up from 49 on Wednesday.

The state's Am I Eligible website began taking appointments for the new site at the Rockland Community College fieldhouse Tuesday in preparation for its Thursday opening. SEE: Rockland Coronavirus: State Opens Mass Vaccination Site. The available appointments filled up fast.

Residents can sign up for vaccination by visiting the state's "Am I Eligible" website or calling the state's hotline at at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829).

Residents can also find vaccination clinics close to home using an interactive map showing the region's public and private vaccination network. SEE: HV Coronavirus: Help For Finding Vaccine Appointments.

New York's vaccination program continues to expand, with 192,853 doses administered across the public and private distribution network in the last 24 hours, and more than 1.3 million doses administered over the past seven days, according to state health officials.
