Sparky's Diner Hosts Shoot For Julia Roberts Movie
"Ben Is Back" has been shooting in Mamaroneck, New York City and now Garnerville.

GARNERVILLE, NY — Julia Roberts' new project is filming Tuesday at Sparky's Diner in Garnerville, according to news reports. It's not the famous diner's first foray: most recently, in September the diner was the location for the TV show “Rise.”
There's no confirmation that the Pretty Woman herself will be in Haverstraw, but the movie has been filming around the lower Hudson Valley for a while, including in December at the Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club.
The movie is called "Ben is Back." It stars Roberts and Lucas Hedges of "Manchester by the Sea" fame, and it is written and directed by Lucas's dad, Peter Hedges (author of "What's Eating Gilbert Grape"). The film is scheduled for release in 2018 and, according to imdb.com, is about a troubled young man who returns home Christmas Eve.

Tuesday's shoot is an overnight event, the production company told The Journal News.
Owner Jeannie Nicolakis and her staff have had fun with all the attention in the past few years, they told the Rockland County Times.

However, it's not so much fun for the regulars: Sparky's will be closed during the shoot.
