SUEZ to Begin Fire Hydrant Flushing Program in Rockland
During this program, customers may temporarily experience low water pressure or discolored water.

From SUEZ Water New York: SUEZ will begin its fire hydrant maintenance and water main flushing program in Rockland County on May 15. The work will take place over the next few weeks between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM. During the week of May 15, SUEZ will be flushing in Nanuet, New City and West Nyack.
“The project is part of the company’s routine maintenance program to assure high water quality and reliability,” said John Moolick, director of SUEZ operations in Rockland County. “It is also necessary to be sure that the hydrants are working properly in the event that they need to be used by firefighters.”
As part of this work, SUEZ employees will let water flow from the hydrants to remove harmless minerals that collect in the water mains. During this time, customers may temporarily experience low water pressure or discolored water. While the water is safe, customers may prefer to wait until the water runs clear before drinking or washing clothes or dishes. Running the cold water for several minutes typically clears the lines.
