Toddlers Nearly Drown In Family Pool

With the pool season starting now, the Spring Hill Ambulance Corps reminds parents that kids are masters at bypassing barriers.

RAMAPO, NY — Two girls, aged 2 and 3, were unresponsive Monday when they were pulled from a family pool on Sydell Lane. The 911 call came in to Ramapo police at 12:30 p.m., The Journal News reported.

An adult who had taken CPR began working on the toddlers and then emergency responders from the Spring Hill Community Ambulance Corps and Rockland Paramedics arrived and took over.

Both patients were transported with pulses to Westchester Medical Center.

"This should also serve as a cautionary tale for private pool owners," the ambulance corps wrote later on Facebook. "As the weather becomes warmer and pools around Town begin to open, it's imperative that you remember pool safety. Children are masters in bypassing barriers; always ensure the gate to the pool is locked with no holes in the fence. Practice and discuss pool safety with your children. Ensure that they, as well as yourself, know what to do in case of an emergency in the water."
