
Ann Christine Griffin passed away peacefully at home on April 29, 2015 surrounded by her nine children who loved her dearly.
Born on November 23, 1922 to Ann Ginnity and Carl Carlson. She was raised in Haverstraw, NY and later moved to New City, NY where she lived for the last 54 years. She provided unwavering support and countless hours of good talks and laughs for her family both at home and at her house on Long Beach Island. She was a kind and generous person. For this and more she will be remembered with the deepest love and gratitude.
Ann attended St Peter’s School and Haverstraw High School. She graduated from Ladycliff College and attended Columbia University. She worked for AT&T in NYC during WW II and later taught in the Haverstraw school district.
She is survived by her nine loving children, Vincent Jr. and wife Christine of Stratford, CT, Joanne Shannon and husband James of Whitehouse Station, NJ, Brian Griffin and wife Kristine of St Charles, IL, Janet Rogers and husband William of Sarasota, FL, Peter and wife Christine of Rockfall, CT, Timothy and wife Celeste of Stony Point, NY, Nancy Ryan and husband John of Neshanic Station, NJ, Kevin and Christopher of New City, NY. Ann has 20 wonderful grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Ann is also survived by her brother Carl Carlson of Houston, TX.
Ann was predeceased by her husband Vincent A. Griffin. They eloped and were happily married for 62 years. She was also predeceased by her beloved sister Mary Jane McAvoy.
Family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, New City. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday 11:30am at St Francis of Assisi Church, West Nyack, NY. Burial to follow at St Peter’s Cemetery in Haverstraw, NY.
