William Smith of New City passed away on Tues, Feb 10, 2015.

William was born in Bronx, NY on Sept 4, 1926 to James and Emma (Rittinger) Smith.

William was a WWII veteran who served his country proudly as a US Navy Radioman in the South Pacific. He was an NYPD Patrolman for 34 years in the 44th Precinct and was also a member of the Pearl River Elks, and the American Legion 329.

He is survived by his wife Margaret (Gardiner) and their children Joseph Kohler (Eileen), Noreen Kohler, Janeen Smith, and William D. Smith; grandchildren Danielle, PJ, Thomas, Alanna and Joshua, one great-grandchild, and his brother, Raymond Smith.

Viewing hours at the Joseph W Sorce Funeral Home, 728 W. Nyack Rd., W. Nyack, NY are Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9p.m.

Mass of Christian burial: 11:00 am Friday, 2/13/15 at St. Augustine’s Church, New City, NY.
