What do to in New City for Father’s Day

Here is a list of local places to eat, shop and hang out while you celebrate your dad on Sunday, June 16.

Father’s Day is Sunday and though we may be scrambling for ideas on how to celebrate the man that taught us life’s most valuable lessons, that doesn’t mean we love him any less!

Give him presents – Everyone loves gifts, and though father’s are the ones who are usually giving them, they are no exception. New City if full of places to pick-up those last minutes gift ideas, like a baseball hat, new electronics or tools or cooking lessons. You can help your dad stay healthy with a new bicycle or bike repair from Cycle World, at 53 S Main St in New City, (845) 634-2384.

Fill his belly with food – You’ll want to make sure you call ahead to ensure that you’ll get a table, so you can treat your dad to a special father’s day meal. Many restaurants like Doyler & Dunneys—a family-friendly Irish pub at 191 S. Main. St. in New City (845) 639-0267)—will be serving up special menus for the day.

Show him a good time - Father’s Day is a day to have fun with your family. Living in New City, you won’t have to go far for a good time. Here are some local Father’s Day events happening on Sunday. 

Father’s Day Road Race –Registration will begin at 7:15 a.m. and the race starts at 8:30 a.m. 

The Father’s Day Road Race will be held at the Pearl River Elks Lodge, 2041 Elks Drive in Nanuet and includes a 4-mile course through the streets of Nanuet and Pearl River. Onsite parking, food and beverages will be provided. 

Awards will be given to male and female runners, top three overall and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each of the five year increment age groups.

The entry fee is $25 and includes a t-shirt. For more information call (845) 623-2041.

Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast – This feast will be served on at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony's School, 34 West Nyack Rd. in Nanuet. There will be pancakes, sausages, OJ, coffee, tea prizes and fun for dad courtesy Boy Scout Troop 78. Prizes include show tickets, an ocean kayak and a 51-inch HDTV. 

The cost is $5 in advance, $6 at the door and $3 for kids. For more information call (845) 638-8086.
