What’s Open, What’s Closed for Labor Day

Here's a guide for what is closed on Monday in the New City area.

Monday is Labor Day, the unofficial end of the beach and barbecue season and the start of school. You’ve still got time for another cook-out and a chance to relax on the deck or by the pool.

But wait, did you get enough hot dog buns? Do you need to mail something to your daughter who is already at college? For those last minute minor emergencies, here is a guide to what’s open and what’s closed.

  • Mail: Post offices will be closed Monday.
  • New York State offices: Closed Monday.
  • Municipal Office: Closed Monday.
  • Banks: Closed Monday.
  • New York Stock Exchange: Closed Monday.
  • Retail stores: It varies. A store may be closed or may have shortened hours on Monday. Call ahead
  • Supermarkets: Open Monday, but many stores have shortened hours.
  • Libraries: Closed.
