Yair Shoshani: The Art Sector is in Trouble

Along with the tourism sector, cultural and creative sectors are among the most affected by the current crisis.

Cultural and creative sectors are important in their own right in terms of their economic footprint and employment. Unfortunately, they are among the hardest hit by the pandemic. Brooklyn-based contemporary artist Yair Shoshani believes that the mass job losses triggered by the pandemic have left the artists most vulnerable, but he points out that adversity has never been a barrier to artistic creation. So, even in these dark times, Yair Shoshani seeks to excite through color, a central element in his works that now at these difficult times can serve as a balm, boost, and strength. For him, color is the engine that drives the construction of his paintings, it is not illustrative or decorative, it is the foundation. Yair Shoshani felt the impulse of art very early, specifically of the abstract. Since that moment, his career has moved in these areas until he became more familiar with portraiture.
