2021 Valedictorian, Salutatorian Named At Mattituck High School

MATTITUCK, NY — The Mattituck-Cutchogue Union Free School District has announced the names of the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2021.

The Class of 2021's valedictorian is Luke Altman, who has an unweighted grade point average of 97.76 percent, the district said.

The student honored as salutatorian is Weronika Jachimowicz, with an unweighted GPA of 97.27 percent, the district said.

In addition to participating in numerous clubs, activities, and community service projects, both students have earned the highest academic achievements for the Class of 2021.

“Both Luke and Weronika have demonstrated the perseverance and commitment needed to earn the prestigious distinction of Class of 2021 valedictorian and salutatorian,” Superintendent of Schools Jill Gierasch said. “This achievement, especially during these challenging times, is a major accomplishment in their academic careers.”

Altman was a member of the varsity wrestling team, All-County; varsity cross-country, All-County, State Qualifier 2019; varsity track; National Honor Society president, student council executive board president, Mathletes president and the recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. He plans to major in biomedical engineering in college.

Salutatorian Weronika Jachimowicz was a member of the fencing team, ping pong team and winter track team. She was a member of the National Honor Society, high school art portfolio club, and SADD club, co-president of the Unity club, and president of the Interact club. In addition, she participated in community service as a volunteer at local libraries. Weronika plans to major in biology/forensics in college.
